Meet the Owner
Education
Joy is a Penn State graduate, earning a Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structural studies. She had a 3.94 grade point average in her graduate studies and was elected the top student from her graduating glass in structural design by her professors. She studied for one semester at Leeds University within the exchange program.
More than fifteen years of experience
She graduated in 1999 and earned her first Professional Engineer's license in 2003. A majority of her experience was serving as an in-house engineer for two large architecture design firms: HGA and LEO A DALY. These work environments put an emphasis on collaboration with other professionals and on being flexible with design solutions.
Work Ethic
Joy is committed to understanding her client's goals and values. Because of this, the structural solutions provided by Beers Engineering will fit a client's needs, rather than using anecdotal solutions that are force fit onto a project. Further she understands that a solution that is good for the team is preferred over a solution that serves only one member.
